MEXICO CITY — Grupo Bimbo here said Thursday that it completed the acquisition of the U.S. bakery business of George Weston Ltd., Toronto.
The $2.5 billion deal was seen by some analysts as a way for Weston to raise money to take Loblaw Cos. private. Weston was the largest U.S. Baker, with brands including Arnold, Brownberry, Entenmann's, Freihofer, Stroehmann and Thomas.
