Bottom Dollar Confirms Pittsburgh Expansion

SALISBURY, N.C. — Bottom Dollar Food here on Friday confirmed plans to open 14 stores in the Pittsburgh and Youngstown, Ohio, markets, with most slated to open early next year.

Local reports about the discount division of Delhaize America expanding to the Pittsburgh area have circulated for months. Bottom Dollar said the stores would create 600 jobs. Bottom Dollar was founded in 2005 in North Carolina and has since expanded to 47 stores in five states.

"We are very fortunate to have a strong emerging banner that we can continue to grow in new markets," Meg Ham, Bottom Dollar’s president, said in a statement.
