TORONTO — As part of its ongoing efforts to ensure customers get the best service, Loblaw Cos. here announced Tuesday it has extended its pharmacy hours at select Loblaw banner stores in Ontario.
Customers will find extended pharmacy hours at select Real Canadian Superstore, Loblaw Superstore, Loblaws and Loblaw Great Food, Zehrs and Zehrs Great Food, Fortinos(R) and Your Independent Grocer stores.
Loblaw is also enhancing pharmacy service by rolling out new information technology and implementing new methods to improve prescription processing times in its pharmacies to allow pharmacists to spend more time with their patients.
The company is recruiting incremental pharmacy students and interns along with pharmacists to help ensure customers' needs are met.
Allan Leighton, president and deputy chairman, said earlier this month the company is focused on upgrading its pharmacy operation to capture greater market share. This follows efforts by the Ontario government to cut drug prices by eliminating professional allowance fees paid to pharmacists to stock generic drugs.
Ontario drug store chains oppose the measure because they say it would impact their revenues and force them to cut pharmacy services.
