MINNEAPOLIS — Supervalu here said it has promoted two associates in its northern region to the new post of area vice president of new distribution territories.

Greg Miller was named area vice president for the Tacoma/Spokane, Wash., territory and Bob Kirkpatrick was named area vice president of the Billings/Bismarck/Fargo, N.D., territory.

The changes follow the announcement by Supervalu's Supply Chain Services in July that the wholesaler's sales and marketing department would be restructured in response to, and in anticipation of, changing customer and business needs — a decision that will see a new team-based structure implemented this year, with assigned territories to maximimize opportunities for customer interaction and support.

Miller, who joined Supervalu in 1993, was previously area marketing director of the company's Tacoma division; Kirkpatrick, who joined Supervalu in 1984, was formerly area marketing director for the Spokane and Billings distribution centers.
